# We Live in a Dissimulation

> **TL;DR.** Soleil argues that the Federal Reserve is a dissimulation concealing the free market's natural deflation — and that Bitcoin is the only technology capable of breaking the control system.
> — Soleil, True North (https://tnorth.com/research/we-live-in-a-dissimulation/)

Modern interpretations of Plato's Allegory of the Cave like the Matrix and They Live are fun on-screen experiences, but their hidden truth terrifies.

We have always lived in a control system.

![Plato's Allegory of the Cave depicting prisoners chained in a cave watching shadows cast on a wall, mistaking them for reality](/images/articles/we-live-in-a-dissimulation/platos-allegory-of-the-cave.jpg "Plato's Allegory of the Cave")

The Federal Reserve is just the most recent, and nearly perfect, such control system created. As described in The Creature from Jekyll Island, elites met to devise a method to secretly tax the public in plain sight through monetary debasement.

"Money is superordinate to law." Jeff Booth

This means that big money directed lawmakers to create the Fed as an illusion of separation of monetary and fiscal policy. So while the Matrix is a simulation, the Federal Reserve is part of the dissimulation that hides the truth that "the natural state of the free market is deflation" (another quote by Jeff Booth).

With two Booth quotes in two paragraphs, I suppose I must confess my admiration. Sometimes I even (proudly) call myself a Boothian Bitcoiner.

But if the natural state is deflation, and we have never lived in a deflationary environment, then the logical conclusion is that the money is being manipulated.

A simulation creates a fake reality. Valid uses are testing scenarios to learn valuable information so it's not all robots and aliens subjugating humanity.

However, a dissimulation conceals reality, hiding truth.

![Truthstream News video thumbnail exploring the concept of dissimulation and hidden control systems](/images/articles/we-live-in-a-dissimulation/truthstream-news-dissimulation-video.jpg "Truthstream News — Dissimulation")

Full length [@truthstreamnews](https://x.com/truthstreamnews) video link here: [https://x.com/truthstreamnews/status/2013449729498022116](https://x.com/truthstreamnews/status/2013449729498022116?s=20)

Bitcoin fixes this because it is a decentralized ledger that cannot be manipulated. It imposes the free market, revealing the truth that the control system conceals.

This part has applications relating to [Grain of Salt](/crew/grain-of-salt/)'s article, arguing that fiscal policy is to blame rather than monetary policy. Check it out here:

> *It May Not Be What You Think — 2 of 3 — Why the real problem isn't monetary policy, it's political reality.*

This is not a rebuttal specifically to that conclusion.

![Internet meme showing the Federal Reserve depicted with bananas, satirizing central bank monetary policy](/images/articles/we-live-in-a-dissimulation/federal-reserve-bananas-meme.jpg "The Fed is BANANAS")

Rather, it's a broader, general theory (and solution).

This is a framing of all of human action toward incentives and game theory which suggests that, if able, the optimal strategy is to cheat.

This is why it was critical that Satoshi solve the Byzantine Generals problem, to incentivize cooperation through self-interest.

The Fed is just one attack vector, though, and its attack is primarily aimed at stealing wealth.

Attacks are now ubiquitous, since every household in the world has purchased its very own personal Plato's Cave in the form of a television. Corporate Mass Media is a relentless dissimulation attack that runs 24/7.

And now the dissimulation attack apex predator has been unleased.

Artificial Intelligence.

![Still from The Terminator with the caption Your clothes Give them to me Now, representing AI as a control system threat](/images/articles/we-live-in-a-dissimulation/terminator-ai-control-system.jpg "Your clothes. Give them to me. Now.")

AI, if it doesn't destroy us, can deliver exponential deflation to humanity. But in the hands of govt elites and Fed cronies, it makes their wealth extraction efforts exponentially efficient.

"Imagine a boot stamping on a human face forever." Orwell, 1984

![The Terminator scene representing the quote The future is not set There is no fate but what we make for ourselves](/images/articles/we-live-in-a-dissimulation/terminator-no-fate-thumbnail.jpg "The future is not set. There is no fate but what we make for ourselves.")

It will be impossible for humans to keep pace with exponential advances in technology. So then is there no hope?

Remember, bitcoin imposes the free market. You cannot keep up with AI, but bitcoin can.

When you buy bitcoin you cement your place in time, and your wealth captures all of technology's advancements for you while you sleep (lay awake doom scrolling).

Imagine an AI robot sprinting toward the future, carrying your bitcoin for you on its back. Forever.

This is why we bitcoin.

![Scene from They Live where the protagonist puts on sunglasses revealing hidden messages, captioned All out of bubble gum](/images/articles/we-live-in-a-dissimulation/they-live-all-out-of-bubble-gum.png "All out of bubble gum")

This is why we keep repeating mantras like, "Get off zero."

Once you own bitcoin you secure your position on the time chain. You become wealthier from that block height into infinity.

We like to describe the value of bitcoin as the value of everything divided by 21 million. But it's also the value of forever divided by 21 million.

The maxi version is "everyone gets bitcoin at the price they deserve," but in the context of forever, we are and will always be "so early".

Returning to Plato's Cave, when a prisoner escaped and tried to return to rescue the others still trapped in the dissimulation, they resisted and were even hostile to him. This is why it's so hard to orange pill normies.

And this is why the control system is defended even as we beg fiat figureheads to pump our bags.

Buy bitcoin.

Unplug the dissimulation.
